Lifes A Pitch - Embossing Attempt (1)

Today marked our first attempt at embossing. We wanted to create a plate for the logo which we could use across our whole set of stationery to give our identity a real professional aesthetic as well as showing some of the work we deal with.

We engraved a block which left the logo raised in order to be able to use this as a plate in the press to create some deboss.

We practiced on some cartridge paper which would be a similar stock to our letterheads and envelopes to give us a feel of how the branding would work in this way. Overall, I think we was all pleasantly surprised at the results.

The main drawback was that the edge of the plate was also getting embossed in the press and creating a border around our logo. This is something that we didn't like so found that we would have to re-visit this by laser cutting a full a4 sheet which would make the raised section have enough space around for this not to be a problem.

The logo works beautifully on the front cover of a moleskine. Overall very happy with these initial results and can't wait to get back with the more perfected efforts across our stationery.
