OUGD406 // It's Your Choice // Further Development...

Moving onto to my next collection of quotes, i wanted to string a few quotes together into one typography experiment that would help people get inspired. I cam up with this. It's a really simple concept of just overlapping text but i went with the form follows function approach, and i really like the result of this. It's one of my favourites...

I wanted to make something using the 'N A T I V E' typeface i had previously created myself so i chose to work with some Native American 'Laika' translations from english. I chose to use the most powerful traditional phrase to me, which was 'BORN WITH PRIDE'

The translation is TUPI - KICI - AHOICIPE

The next idea was simple. Experimenting with type and image again. I like the texture and patterns made when the block red is layered over the half-tone blue of the image. Really simple but quite beautiful at the same time.

Re-working into the front cover. I wanted the title of the newspaper to be 'Traditional Native American Quotes' and also the text to be a lot smaller. I have also centred the text. This makes for a much better front cover now.
