Proverbally Yours - Message and Interpretation - Envelope Design

After a talk about format with Fred today, it made me want to link my envelope with the design inside more. My original idea was to keep it pretty simple. Use the same stock as the paper, which will be an 'antique white card', and just keep it plain with the address and stamp on.

I can remember fred talking about when you first see an envelope, it is often quite secretive when plain. Its not inviting the viewer to be tempted to see inside. Also i think with plain envelopes you think that its probably just another bill so might ignore or put off opening it.

With the idea i had i wanted to draw the customers in by illustrating the front of the envelope and make that travel along to the design inside.

As i am using the illustration and type of the dog lead for a large part of the flyer work inside, i thought i could link this with the envelope easily. My idea is to illustrate a hand holding a dog lead with the lead travelling around the back and into the envelope. This would then link it to the start of the lead inside on the work. I think this is a really good idea. It gives the envelope some context before you open it, you know it is something about pets. It also makes you curious and want to see whats going on inside the envelope. Hopefully i will pull this off and it would look great!

Here are some final designs for the front of the envelope. I like the last one the best, keeping it pretty simple, but looks professional and works efficiently.

TOO COMPLEX - BLUE SPOILS IT

DONT LIKE THE GUIDE LINES - WOULD PREFER TYPED TEXT

FINAL DESIGN - SIMPLE, EFFECTIVE, WORKS WELL, SERVES THE PURPOSE
