OUGD406 // Final Crit

We did an overview of our module in a crit. We was in pairs and had to crit 2 other peoples work looking at the final pieces, development work and on blogs. Here is the sheets of feedback i received. I decided to type them up so i can refer back to them when returning to the module to amend things...

Documentation

Strengths

You have a strong and clear understanding of design. Lots of imagery and visual experimentation. Good opinions on the imagery and is all in an organised order.

Work is very thorough and the design is really high quality. Very professional and all development and experimentation is recorded well.

Areas for improvement 

Your 'It's Your Choice' brief work is very 'on trend' design, try looking at work that is not on trend.

Try to pick points that highlight big changes in your work to help be selective with development.

Design Development


Strengths


Your blog is clear and very easy to understand and all in order. Lots of work that is easy to understand to follow and read. Lots of variations and experimentation which shows the amount of work that has been put in.

You notice areas of improvement from previous crits and personally and act on them accordingly. You take all advice on board and the quality of your work shows this :)

Areas of Improvement


Maybe more colour colour experimentation. Playing it safe using red and blue in 'It's Your Choice' Brief.  Maybe stock consideration?

Visual Quality


Strengths 


Looks very professional, clean and easy to understand. It's your choice brief is influenced by swiss/modernist style which is quite simplistic but works really well.

Obviously a lot of time spent into your work. It is of a very high standard and quality. Great combinations of image and type and very consistent.

Areas of Improvement 


Maybe experiment with hand rendered design and different variations of colour. Move out of your comfort zone try different styles or older styles of design that aren't on trend at the moment.

Technical Competence 


Strengths 


Very skilled designer. High Quality, I'm not sure how you do some of the stuff. Nice to see all your experimentation in different media and format. Shows your willing to do something new. Especially like the experiments with red thread sewn into images.

Great at combining techniques succesfully. All the concepts are strong, well thought out and work for a good final piece. Final prints are great quality, well thought out and look good, well done.

Areas of Improvement 


Some hand rendered design might work well and something different to try out.

I will take all this information on board when it comes to finishing this module and amending anything that needs to be done.
