100 Things // Final Crit Feedback

Comments i received about my work in the final crit...

I have written my response to the comments in red and what i will be doing to resolve these...

- Design Direction -

- Strengths -

Very strong design, good running theme, not too many colours, not overpowering, they work well together. good use of gradients. Very cohesive. fits the subject well.

- Design Development -

- Strengths -

Good variety of imagery. simple pictogram icons work well to explain the subject. Scale difference works really well.

- Weaknesses -

Feel that the designs with the added texture would possibly work better without the texture like the others designs.

When put into context, the two designs are different for a reason but i do understand that the ones without the texture work better. However the texture as put there to fit the illustrations, i will have to experiment to see which works better.

-  Visual Quality -

Very 'On Trend' Gradient colour is lovely and simple icons make it all easy to understand. simplistic illustrations work really well ie. totem pole. All reflects the native american culture well.

- Weaknesses -

Body copy is readable but could have been all lower case to make it even easier to see on the small size postcard.

there is quite a lot of information in  a small place so maybe i would have to take info out or rework it to make it more readable sense for the size. Hard trying to get all the appropriate info in there though.

Technical Competence

- Strenghs -

Similar to catalogue. Love the risoprint style! Really nicely done, nice stock and nicely put together.

- Weaknesses -

booklet isn't tied together.

I have not had chance to tie the booklet together yet, i wanted to do this with string or thread to make it fit the theme of the 'Native Amercans' more. Just a nicer touch as appose to just stapling them together, so i need to figure how i can do this effectively.
