100 Things // Categorise & Communicate // Research/Fact Organisation

I split the research i had undertook into 10 different sections to help with the organisation of it. This fits quite well into the task that we have to create 10 different products for our final piece...

The 10 categories i chose were:-

• CLOTHING
• WAR BONNETS
• TOTEM POLES
• DREAMCATCHERS
• NATIVE AMERICAN SIGNS & SYMBOLS
• PATTERNS AND BEADWORK
• HALLUCINOGENICS
• RELIGION/MYTHOLOGY/CEREMONIES
• HUNTING/FOOD/LIVING
• INFLUENCE ON MODERN DESIGN

My initial ideas was to create 10 informative products as a set that would fit well into each area that i have researched. I started thinking about where this information could be placed and tried to come up with some sort of list of places:-

• MUSEUM
• ART GALLERY
• INFORMATION CENTER
• ANCESTRY/HISTORY PLACES
• AN EXHIBITION
• RELIGIOUS PLACES (CHURCHES IN AMERICA ETC.)

The obvious choice is to create informative pieces for a museum that would most likely contain information on native amercians. Although this is obvious, it also seems like it would just work so this seems like a  likely route i will take, even though i will so research into info graphics and see which path it would fit the best into.

After jotting down some ideas stemming from this i came up with a few possible design solutions to this problem that i may go on to create as final pieces...

• A SET OF POSTCARDS - This will be able to pick up in a museum and hold the key information as you walk around, you can refer to the postcards and also keep them as a souvenir to take home and keep the information. 
• POSTERS - This is another obvious outcome. The posters could be placed next to the different sections in a museum, holding facts etc. 
• PACKAGING/CLOTHING DESIGN - A less likely outcome to include facts and figures, this was more a thought of design for the more modern aspects of native americans. An idea was to include historical facts within the packaging or even print of new contemporary clothing to help educate where the history of this is from. A less likely outcome but a possibility.
• POSTERS/FLYER/GENERAL PROMOTION WORK - This would be more likely be for an exhibition but could work as i could include historical facts on the posters included in the exhibition as well as creating all the promo design for it.
