OUGD505 - Exhibition Poster - Design Development

Perforated Circle

I created this shape circle for the grid. As I will be laser cutting these circles fairly small, they needed to have big enough section that would ensure that it would stay attached to the stock i'm cutting from. Once cut, this might make it a little more difficult to push the holes through each week with a different design, but wont matter for the first poster, because these holes with be laser cut separately with the design.

Circle Grid

You can see here the grid that I built using these shapes. This can be laser cut directly into stock to created the perforated circles that will be used as the grid template for every poster.

Type within Grid

I used Avenire typeface as a template because its bold and would cover the chosen dots making it easier for me to use as a template when created the dotted typeface. I used this as a template the filled in the chosen circles on the gird to create the vector which will be used for the first poster.

As you can see, using the grid as a guide I created the custom typeface.  This will be used to promote the first exhibition. I will need to add some details at the bottom about the exhibition but I'm not sure whether this should be laser cut or just simply printed. I'm thinking the latter would be more successful bit also more time consuming.

Body Copy (Extra Info)

I added the simple type to the bottom of the poster to show the details of the exhibition.

Final Poster Design

The poster will be laser-cut from yellow stock and then placed over a different coloured stock behind it. This would probably be black in colour.

Promotional Flyers

The promotional flyers will be a6 in size and will be literally a smaller version of the poster, to help keep the promotion consistent. The holes will be the same size but there will be less taking up the area of the stock. These will be blank with no holes cut out so that this gives interaction with the user. They can make whatever pattern they want within the grid. This is just a sun way of spreading the word of the exhibition and a way which will hopefully be memorable and instantly recognisable.
