Printing
I printed the nets onto a Matt finish stock with James downstairs. After discussing the best possible outcome with him, We come to the conclusion that laminating the Matt stock will give a glossy finish the the boxes, which is what we was looking for. The laminating also makes the stock easy to cut, fold and score without it cracking or creasing which again is perfect for what we was looking for.
Here are some images of this process...
Printing onto the Matt stock finish. I applied a very faint grey line around the outside of the net so that I could use this as a guide when cutting. Hopefully this would run smoothly, when using a scalpel to cut out...
The laminate gave this gloss finish to the stock. It also made the stock durable, which is needed for a perfume bottle. Apparently the stock is waterproof and fireproof, but I wont be testing t it to stay on the safe side...
Making
We had to be precise when scoring and folding the nets to avoid any creasing, cracking of defects in the final product.
We carefully cut out the nets using a fresh blade scalpel and a metal ruler. This was the most effective way we found to get a clean cut. We then folded them together to get the finish box. The good thing about these nets are, no glue is needed to be applied for them to fit together.
Stickers & Business Cards
These are the stickers which Chris managed to print out with James. These will be applied to the syringe packets, the bottle label (to keep it together) and the business cards. They are a good way to apply the colour to different surfaces to relate it to the colour coded scents and help the product pop.
These are the business cards which I'm in the process of creating. I originally embossed some plain black stock. I built up the thickness of this by sticking three separate pieces together. I have placed this un a press for 24 hours to make sure they are fully stuck together. Once I take them out, I will measure them up, scalpel them out neatly to get a precise fine edge, and apply the different coloured stickers folded around the business card.
Tablet Packaging
We did the same for the tablet nets, cutting them out carefully and precisely.
We applied double sided tape and strong glue to get the tabs to hold tightly. These weren't as successful as the larger nets jus becasue of the scale, but if photographed correctly, these will look fine!
Done!
We brought everything together ready for the photo-shoot tomorrow.
