Responsive - Hellfire Beer - Initial Ideas & Development

Initial Idea

My initial idea was to use my research into alchemy, palm reading and Ouija boards to develop some further ideas. I used photographs that I took of a hand as a starting point and then used a light box to hand draw over it to get this 'victorian' style illustration, making up the tones through sequences of dots.

I then went onto to create a separate drawing to layer over the top of the hand. This used various symbols from alchemy as well as hand drawn script. to contain all the information about the beer. I liked this idea but not sure this worked as successful as it good, so needed to develop the idea further...

I think the drawing of the hand alone works really well, and that the 'doodles' deter a little bit from that....

Further Experimentation

Some Further experimentation with the beer label. I wanted to go for a shape that wasn't seen on a standard beer label and also experimented more with introducing colour. The most successful attempts in my opinion is the red and beige colours used together, but I also like the idea of merging the original illustrations into the type and label shape.
