OUGD505, Design Practice 2 - Research Book

Using the primary and secondary research that i had collected and collated, I put together this short booklet which would outline key information found, my brief and where I will take the project, visual research and research into process and production. Essentially this is a perfect handbook for the brief I will create...

Mock Up

I put together a rough mock-up of the research book using the chosen neon pink stock as the cover. I tested the elasticated binding technique which was okay, but the band i was using was too small for the purpose. I also tested the overlapped half front cover and the inside pages, to check any layout or type issues...

I printed black and white onto the neon stock and the look was brilliant, - just what i wanted. However as i was using the black toner ink, it didn't really take on the waxy surface of the neon stock and also got jammed slightly in the printer because the stock is fairly thin. I will have to try printing though a laserjet printer instead of toner and also mount the stock for a thicker result that the printer will be happy with. I will speak to james about how i can get around this...

My Comments

Im pretty pleased with these comments, on the whole good. The colour got a lot of praise so this is good to know that it is something i can move forward with. as for the colour linking to film, i have backed up the reasoning for this choice through visual research, so I don't really think this is a problem.
